Asparagus & Health:
High in Nutrients, Low in Calories

Healthy Asparagus

Asparagus is packed with nutrients. It is extremely high in folic acid – key for growth and forming blood cells – making asparagus an ideal food for children and pregnant women. Folic acid also helps prevent liver disease.

Asparagus is rich in potassium which helps to maintain a healthy nervous system, metabolism, and strong muscles. And it has rutin, a compound that strengthens the walls of the capillaries. Since ancient times, people have used asparagus rhizomes and roots to treat urinary tract infections as well as kidney and bladder stones.

Asparagus is high in fiber, low in calories, and it contains no fat, no cholesterol, and only traces of sodium.

That said, it is neither semantically relevant, nor necessary to traverse the site- which is why we have placed it at the very end of the markup.
